3D in Flash future
By Rafiq Elmansy (admin) | January 14, 2009 | Posted in Flash | 2 Comments
From the history of Flash, some of the Flash features we see now embedded inside Flash was previously introduced as personal efforts or tries to supply the developers demands through 3rd party companies or even individuals. For example the Bones feature in Adobe Flash CS4 which we used to see as a separate component in the current Flash version predecessors.
JiglibFlash project is an open source project to create 3D render engine.

The project is under developing project through Google Code. And you can view examples on the first results of this engine here Demo 01 and Demo 02.
This project can be a start for a new age of 3D in Flash by developing release of 3D render engine inside Flash.
Another example for such efforts is the PaperVision 3D. The PaperVision 3D is another try to create 3D content in Flash either by using real 3D objects or load external images and benefit from the 3D space feature such as this basic example here.
Template monster was the first of the template sites that uses PaperVision 3D to create 3D Flash Image gallery templates here.
Away 3D is another 3D Flash Engine that alread creating promising examples on the official site here. The examples for Away 3D vary from 3D game environement, generate objects in the 3D space, create 3D text effects and 3D websites.

This breif review on the 3D render engines for Flash show how the community is looking with the eye of concern to this new feature which will create a real demand to Adobe to start thinking in having an embeded 3D engine in Flash in the future versions.
If you have another example for 3D engine feel free to share with all of us by commenting this post.

To my knowledge, JigLibFlash is a physics engine for 3D flash libraries, such as papervision, away and sandy, ported from an opensource c++ library jiglib. It doesn’t create a 3D enviroment in flash by itself.
