Announcing Adobe Scene7 4.0

Adobe announced the latest version of Scene7 4.0, which allow crating work flow orientation for rich media experience. The latest version fo Scene7 includes the following features as mentioned in the Scene7 site:

Scene7 Publishing System 4.0 Highlights
  • Flex-based user interface: New easy, intuitive and efficient Flex-based rich Internet user interface enables desktop type behaviors such as “drag and drop”, single and accordion pane viewing, and visual highlights to accommodate both novice and power users
  • Workflow-based rich media creation: Integrated building tools for each rich media asset type to streamline workflows
  • Extensive help resources: Getting Started, self-paced tutorial videos and guides, instructor-led Web training as well as in-product tips are available with this release to further support novice users
  • Open, persistent mixed asset folder system: Manages content types for all major creative assets, including images, PDF, Photoshop, Illustrator, Postscript, fonts, color profiles, Flash, SVG, InDesign, MS Office, XML, XSLT and Zip files
  • Preset Viewer Library: Library of configurable, best-practice viewers provides multiple designs and styles along with the ability to customize rich media viewers from hundreds of options
  • New personal and administrator system options: New options include thumbnail view size, sort order, default view mode, configure help screens on & off, new email preference settings, etc.
  • Seamless integration to Adobe Creative Suite® via Adobe Version Cue: Integration allows easy upload and download to and from Adobe Creative Suite & Scene7’s hosted system
  • Scene7 AIR Desktop (beta): Utilizing the new Adobe Integrated Runtime (AIR) platform, key Scene7 features are enabled, in particular background bulk folder uploads from a networked desktop to the hosted system
Scene7 4.0 Image Server, Render Server & Viewer Highlights:
  • Improved performance and robustness
  • Adobe Color Engine (ACE) integration for use with ICC Profile Color management on servers
  • Text handling and font rendering with Adobe Text Engine (ATE) on servers
Availability and Editions
Scene7 Publishing System 4.0 will be available early September, 2008 in English, French, German, Spanish and Japanese.

For Enterprise customers, two highly scalable editions will be offered. An Enterprise Unlimited Edition will be available and include full dynamic imaging, eCatalogs, and the Scene7 Media Portal. The Enterprise Edition will include full dynamic imaging and eCatalogs.

For small and medium size businesses four options will be offered to meet more specific needs –the Small Business Dynamic Imaging Edition; the Small Business eCatalog Edition; the Small Business Media Portal Edition; or the Small Business Suite Edition which includes dynamic content sizing, zoom, eCatalog publishing and the Scene7 Media Portal. A free 30-day trial offering for Small Business Editions will also be available.
