It is another sparkling from Colin Moock. The Essential Action Script 3 is written with the deep experience and history of Colin Moock in Action Script since version 1. The new book is a complete reference for Action Script 3 and takes you step by step to cover all the features in Action Script 3.

I see that the reader of this book must be aware with the Action Script basics or used an older version of Action Script.

The book is divided into parts and each part takes you to the next one. The first part scope is the basics and terminology of Action Script 3, but actually, I do think that previous basic experience with Action Script is still required.

This first part is well arranged in chapters, and each chapter concern of specific feature in Action Scrip. For example the first chapter introduces you to the core concepts with Action Script such as Classes and Objects, Variables, Expressions and Methods.

The next chapters concentrate on other features like Conditionals and loops in chapter 2, functions in chapter 5, Arrays in chapter 11 and Events and Event handling in chapter 12.

The second part concerns with Display and Interactivity such as programming animation, drawing with vectors and loading external display assets. And finally, the final part concerns with applying Action Script topics.

The Essential Action Script 3.0 is a good reference if you want to cover the new version for Action Script well and I personally recommend it for intermediate users.
