Nice post and thank you for the additional resources. I am currently a self taught student and aspiring web and graphic designer. While I believe schooling is good for direction and other creatives to lean on, direction can be followed by setting up a curriculum for yourself (which I have done and will be reading your self training plan for inspiration) and hard dedication. In regards to other peers to lean on, you can accomplish this from the design community (which in opinion is the greatest community in regards to career fields). One book I would highly recommend all new self starters to invest in is Megg’s History of Graphic Design. This is an excellent book and a great way to get a grasp and understanding of our mediums history and theory.
