Examples of Beautiful Letterpressed Postcards
2I spend a lot of my time designing for the web, but what got me started was my love for graphic and print design. There’s something that’s richly rewarding and satisfying about designing something that you can print and feel – something that’s tactile and feels as good as it looks. And of course, when you’re designing for print, you can change the look and feel by changing the medium that you’re printing with.
My favourite example of this is the letterpress printing technique, which results in a beautifully ridged, textured finish with the design literally stamped into the card. There’s something remarkably elegant, sophisticated and personalised about it that you don’t really get with designing for the screen.
I’ve brought together some of my favourite examples of postcards that have been beautifully designed and created using the letterpress technique. Each of these have been carefully crafted by some very talented designers, and each one shows what can be achieved with the medium. I hope you find these examples interesting and useful, and that they inspire you to give letterpress printing a try.
