Fonts and typography are one of the most important parts of the design work as they are used to display the text content in a user friendly way. This makes the font library the designer’ best friend that is used frequently in every design task. Free fonts are good resources that designers can rely on to build a useful font library. Although free fonts do not provide as many high quality fonts as the paid ones, but they can help in doing personal designs and some low budget projects, of course this applies to the free fonts that allow commercial use.

Choosing the free font should be done carefully because some fonts do not meet the usability standards and some others do not have the different font styles available, such as normal, bold and italic cases. Thus, it is a good practice to test more than one free font to find the one that suits your design the best. Paid fonts can save you from a lot of the work because they have already been tested and are built in high quality, but on the other hand free fonts can help in small budget projects.
