Creative and Unusual Business Cards

A unique business identity can help you attract more clients and make you stand out from the crowd. Unusual business cards can attract your clients not only to your business, but also to your talent as a creative designer.

Unlike ordinary business cards that are commonly used by everyone, unusual business cards use different materials and concepts that may be inspired by the person’s own career or the client’s business.

Although unusual business cards and creative ideas can come in different shapes, every business card should conform to some basic rules like readability and usability, such as the following:

unusual business cards

Shape of the business card

While unusual business cards can use different shapes and layouts, they should also be easy to hold. For example, large and unusual shaped business cards cannot be put into a wallet and are thus limited to office use.

Design layout

The purpose of a business card’s design is to provide your client with contact information. Therefore, the contents of a business card should be clear and readable for most people. Many unusual business cards use different shapes and designs to display the contact information in a clear way.

All business card design ideas should include the following information:

  • Company name and logo should be clear and large enough to attract the viewer’s eye.
  • The person’s name should be in a larger font than the contact details.
  • The person’s title should be placed under the person’s name.
  • Contact information, such as email, website, telephone, mobile, and address.

Typography

When you choose the font for the design of a business card, it should be readable and match the style of the business card’s design theme. For example, a vintage design requires classic style fonts. There is a large variety of fonts out there to choose from for your business card design ideas. In the following showcase, I would like to present some creative and unusual business card examples that you can learn from and use to inspire your creative mind with new business card ideas.

What a really great selection of unique business cards. I am a business card fanatic myself. I am always checking out the texture, weight and density of them. I love when a person takes time out to make sure that their business card is unique and grabs attention.

Very interesting article. I have to mention another great opportunity; Lenticular business cards. They can be delivered in same size and thickness as a credit card, but With the possibility to have 3D, animation (film), flip (changing Pictures), zoom, morph etc. Will guaranteed make the receiver keep it!

I loved seeing these creative solutions to making a graphic impression at a meeting. These examples typify design from another time which was a pinnacle of print communication. I loathe the vista print cards that are flooding the market. I was surprized to see the cheapo ad at the end of this article! what’s up with that?

    Great ideas!

Also, for those less gifted, please remember if a business card doesn’t tell people what you do (not always covered by your title) people will throw it away.

Love all of these contact ideas, they could be used for many other types of direct mail too! Love to see creativity in action! May have to use the inspiration for something of my own. Good job!

WOW! These ideas really get the creative juices flowing! I have been collecting business cards for nearly 30-years but in all my collection of ‘keepers’ yours has topped the list. I like to collect BCs because they give me ideas on so many other print projects, which usually morph into something totally different from the original idea on the BC. Good creative stuff. Thanks for sharing!!

About the “Greek” card – “This card is inspired from the greek ancient broken architecture and stones.” No, it is not. The “cards” are parts of broken plates, a traditional act in greek weddings that is also performed in some greek restaurants.
