Stunning Examples of Light Painting Photography
5Light painting or light graffiti is one of the interesting photography techniques. This type of photography uses a light source in front of the camera to create artwork based on moving the light source in specific way. Painting with light depends on shooting the light source movement using a steady camera with long exposure.
This long exposure lets the camera lenses expose continuous information about the light movement and display it in the light painting creative way. There are many techniques for painting with light photography using different light sources such as fiber optics, light pens, candles….etc.
Another related technique of the light painting is the camera painting, in this method, the photographer moves the camera itself instead of moving the light in front of the camera. While, both methods have similar effects, but you can use the camera painting with the light that you cannot control such as the street lights. Some photographers can see live preview of their light painting by using webcam and view the results on a screen or projector.
As the examples below show, you can think in different ideas to apply this technique on it. For example, you can use this use light source from more than one person, or direct the person who holds the light source to create specific sequance of motions.

Awesome. Now I am challenged to do some better and better light paintings. Don’t know if I’ll ever beat some of these images. I also learned that these are sometimes called light graffiti. Like that name better.
