Working with 3D content always gives an extra dimentiion to your own design and gives you more capabilities. You can use 3D alone as a 3D design or to integrate it with other Adobe tools such as Adobe Flash, Photoshop, After Effects…etc.

In this post, you will find some useful 3D tutorials that can be used for both 2D and 3D fields. For more free resources like this post to be received directly to your email just join the Free Resources List here.

Blood knight

This heavily-armored character is the second of several characters I plan to make (first was the blood elf) which will ultimately build an entire army of warriors with several common design features.
Among these characters, this one experiences the battle up close and personal, hence the special attention to details such as scratches, dirt and blood.

3D Planet Render

This tutorial covers the creation of a 3D planet render in 3DS MAX. The texturing of the 3D planet is done with procedural maps only, so no bitmaps are needed. The 3D planet creation process consists of some steps.

Compound Objects

We are going to learn new methods to create objects. What is a compound object? It is a object that generally combines two or more existing objects into a single one.

Ella making of

In this tutorial I will cover some of the interesting steps of this project.
I will cover modeling and rigging in general, texturing, working with complex hairs, rendering and compositing.
I will also share a few tips and tricks as I show the process.

Clay Render Mental Ray

Incomplete models (wip) are often rendered with a clay render technique. Clay render means a rendering which looks like a picture of a clay model. In this tutorial I cover a clay render technique in 3D Studio MAX using Mental Ray renderer. If you are not familiar with the clay render concept I encourage you to first read about materials, background and lighting.

Making of Rage over Babylon

The Tower of Babylon was probably one of mankinds greatest creations.
It probably seemed impossible to create a few years before the construction begun,
same as things and achievements we make today seemed impossible yesterday.
I think this tower is a symbol of mankinds will to always push his boundaries and break the limits
(even as far as to reach the height of God and maybe beyond it).

Wireframe Render

The trick described in this tutorial will come handy for your career. When you apply a 3D modeler job position, mostly the employer request you to submit rendered 3D model along with wireframe. To create wireframe render in 3ds max, you can use Wire option in Material Editor or apply Lattice modifier. Both will be explained in this tutorial.
