AuroraFlash – Revolutionary Flash Site Builder

Hi, In this post I want to tell you about brand new and revolutionary software allowing to build cool flash websites absolutely free of charge. Please welcome AuroraFlash site builder! This is non profit project that aims to provide experienced webmaster and computer savvy users with a tool allowing to create stunning flash sites. No additional software or special skills require! Unlike our competitors it’s absolutely free of charge.

But first a little bit of history. The project was created 6 month ago by a group of enthusiasts from all over the world united by the idea of creating simple, free, functional and intuitive application for flash development. The concept of the software is simple and elegant. The structure of the website is described by xml file which defines menu structure, basic design template and content layouts.  This gives user powerful tools enabling to create complex flash websites with sophisticated design elements and multilevel menu/pages architecture. Which means you can use the WYSIWYG editor to manage the structure, add/edit new pages, create unlimited number of menu items, external/internal links, add all sorts of content pages(image/video galleries, contact form,text pages). You can change the design on the fly! And even your grandma can build professional flash site in half and hour. Yes now it’s possible.

So what actually the user gets? Every installation pack contains a copy of AuroraFlash application with a library of graphics design templates and content layouts. Additional skins(or flash templates) can be downloaded from our website and imported into the application. The WYSIWYG editor has pretty simple look, but it doesnt make it less powerful

In the right part of the screen you can see your website and how it actually looks at the moment, you can see all the changes and how they take effect while the editing. The left part of the screen contains global site settings(backgrounds, images, titles, slogans copyright, current design template and so on).

Also this part contains per page options and gives you the tools for content management. So, as you can see it’s simple, free but professional.

Design skins. At the moment we have 1 skin ready which is actually used for all sort of testing. With it’s help we have found out that the support of UTF symbols, deeplinking and much more features do work. The skin is a bit ugly, but for testing purposes it’s ok. Other 5 skins are in production at the moment.

Why free? Yeah it’s the most popular question so far First of all our team believes that really good and necessary things should be free. It’s like learning Physics in the school, you didn’t pay Albert Einstein for The special theory of relativity, though some guys would copyright it

Open source? We are planning to open the sources of the files under GNU GPL license, but not right now. First of all we want to build a community of flash developers who could contribute new designs, layouts, widgets, interactive backgrounds and so on. When we grow a little bigger we will definitely share the sources.

Whats next? The next event is the release of stable version of the WYSIWYG application which is supposed to be on Friday, the 14th of August 2009.  This version will be available for download from our website and many other software resources. Hope you enjoy it!
